Obligation Auto-Detection
How AI automatically identifies and tracks contractual obligations from your contract.
How Obligation Detection Works
Zelosify's AI scans contract text for language that creates obligations — commitments one or both parties must fulfill. It identifies the:
- Obligated party (who must do something)
- Action required (what they must do)
- Deadline (when it must be done, if specified)
- Condition (any triggers or prerequisites)
- Consequence (what happens if not fulfilled)
Detection Patterns
The AI recognizes obligation language such as:
- "shall," "must," "will," "agrees to," "is required to"
- "within X days of...", "no later than...", "prior to..."
- "subject to...", "in the event that...", "upon..."
- Conditional obligations ("If X, then Party shall Y")
Automatically Tracked Obligation Types
| Type | Example |
|---|---|
| Payment | "Client shall pay all undisputed invoices within 30 days of receipt" |
| Delivery | "Vendor shall deliver the initial prototype by March 15, 2026" |
| Reporting | "Vendor shall provide monthly progress reports by the 5th of each month" |
| Insurance | "Vendor shall maintain general liability insurance of no less than $2M" |
| Compliance | "Both parties shall comply with applicable data protection regulations" |
| Notice | "Party shall provide 60 days written notice prior to non-renewal" |
| Confidentiality | "Receiving party shall not disclose Confidential Information for 5 years" |
| Audit | "Vendor shall make records available for audit upon 30 days notice" |
After Detection
- Obligations appear in the contract's "Obligations" tab
- Each has an assigned status (Pending, In Progress, Completed, Overdue)
- Date-bound obligations generate automatic calendar reminders
- You can edit, add, or remove AI-detected obligations
